Mr. Mrinal Kanti Ghosh ... for the petitioners Mr. Ansar Mandal Mr. Suprabhat Bhattacharyya ... for the State The petitioners say that valuable land belonging to their predecessor-in-interest has been taken over by the Government and a research institute has been brought up on such land. However, the petitioners never received notice of any acquisition proceeding nor have received any compensation. The petitioners have made a representation dated October 11, 2018, addressed to the L.A. Collector, District 24 Parganas (South) and the Special Land Acquisition Officer, District - 24 Parganas (South). No response has been received by the petitioners to such representation. The petitioners submit that an early decision should be taken on the basis of the petitioners' representation.

Accordingly, I direct the respondent no. 4 being the Special Land Acquisition Officer, South 24 Parganas, Land Acquisition Department, to dispose of the petitioners' representation dated October 11, 2018 (Annexure P-5 to

the writ petition), by a reasoned order, in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order along with a copy of the writ petition, after giving an opportunity of hearing to any one of the petitioners or their authorized representative. The decision so taken shall be communicated to the petitioners within a week from the date of the decision. I have not gone into the merits of the petitioners' claim. The 4th respondent shall take an informed decision in the matter, in accordance with law.

W.P.A. 2736 of 2021 is accordingly disposed of. Since no affidavit has been called for, none of the allegations in the writ petition shall be deemed to have been admitted by the respondents.

There will be no order as to costs.
