The petitioner is a regular student of Ram Mohan College, Kolkata, a college under the University of Calcutta. The petitioner is supposed to take up B.A. (Honours) Education Examination, 2023 (Semester-V) commencing from January 30,2024.

The petitioner is yet to receive the Admit Card for the said examination as a result could not take up the examination of the first paper.

Mr. Das, learned Counsel for the college admits that due to the mistake of his client the name of the petitioner was not sent to the University as a result the Admit Card was not issued.

Chatterjee, learned Counsel for the University submits that his client is ready and willing to extend all types of co-operation to the student so that she can appear in the examination for the remaining papers but as per regulation she is required to participate in the re-examination of the said first paper which would be conducted by the University after six months.

The student cannot be made to suffer for the fault of the college, as such the college is required to take steps to get the Admit Card of the petitioner from the University.

Dr. Santi Ranjan Dey, an Associate Professor and the disbursing Officer (BURSAR) of the said college is personally present in Court. Dr. Dey, is directed to meet the Controller of Examination of the University today with all relevant papers to get the Admit Card of the petitioner and to hand over the same to the petitioner at her place of residence. The college has to compensate the petitioner which is assessed at Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand Only) to be paid to her bank account details whereof be supplied to Mr. Das.

WPA 2334 of 2024 is disposed of with the above terms without any order as to costs.

Liberty is granted to the learned advocate for the petitioner to communicate of the gist of this order and the authorities are directed to act on such communication.

Parties to act on the server copy duly downloaded from the official website of this Court. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties subject to compliance with all requisite formalities.
