Mr. Ambar Nath Sen, Mr. Malay Dhar ...for the Petitioner Mr. Shyama Prasad Purkait ...for Diamond Harbour Municipality The petitioners claim to be the owners of various 10-03-2025 AKG Ct. 15 shops located within the Diamond Harbour Municipality. They assert that they have been issued trade licenses by the Diamond Harbour Municipality. Since 2020, however, the Municipality has declined to renew their trade licenses.

According to the supplementary affidavit filed by the petitioners, they made a representation before the Chairman of the Diamond Harbour Municipality requesting the renewal of their trade licenses. The learned advocate appearing for the petitioners submits that the request for renewal is yet to be considered.

On the other hand, the learned advocate for the Municipality submits that some of the shops have already been demolished to facilitate the expansion of the National Highway.

In light of these circumstances, the Municipality is directed to consider the petitioners' request for the renewal of their trade licenses in accordance with the law and to pass a reasoned order within one month from the date of this order.

WPA 2452 of 2023 is disposed of.
