The petitioners allege that crores of rupees have been siphoned under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. In this regard, several representations have been made. Pursuant to one such representation, the Panchayats and Rural Development department had addressed the District Magistrate and District Programme Coordinator, Mahatma Gandhi NREGA, Malda to submit a scheme wise Action Taken Report vide memo dated 17th August, 2022.

The petitioners' grievance is that till date, the Action Taken Report has not been submitted nor the subsequent representations given by several persons dated 27th August, 2022 and 10th October, 2022 have been considered.

The learned Advocate General appearing for the respondents/State submitted that action has been taken and report has been submitted and the subsequent representations given by the petitioners as well as the mass petitions were considered and action has been taken.

However, till date, the petitioners have not been informed as to what was the action taken by the authorities. Therefore, we direct the appropriate authority of the State Government/District Magistrate Malda, to communicate the action taken report as well as other actions, which have been initiated pursuant to the representations given by the petitioners and the mass petitions within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of server copy of this order.

After receipt of those reports and communication, the petitioners are at liberty to work out their grievances in the manner known to law.

With the above directions, the writ petition stands disposed of.
