This is a writ petition challenging a final order of assessment dated 13th August, 2025.

On behalf of the respondent, it is submitted that the petitioner is a habitual wrongdoer and has been repeatedly found to be indulging in acts of theft bypassing the meter. Indisputably, there are criminal proceedings which have also been filed at the instance of the CESC Ltd.

In view of the alternative efficacious remedy under sections 126 and 127 of the Electricity Act, 2003, the writ petition is dismissed. There are no grounds made out for entertaining the writ petition in the light of the statutory embargo.

Liberty is granted to the petitioner to avail of its remedies in accordance with law.
