Mr. Angshuman Chakraborty ...for the petitioner Mr. Swapan Banerjee Ms. Purnima Ghosh ..for the State This is an application seeking an expeditious disposal of a case in which a charge-sheet was submitted under Section 21 (c ) of the NDPS Act.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is in custody in connection with this case since 24th June, 2019. Although a charge-sheet was submitted in 2019 and a supplementary charge-sheet was also submitted in 2020, till date, even the charges could not be framed. Long dates are being fixed. The matter has remained pending for no fault of the present petitioner.

I have heard the submissions of the learned counsels appearing on behalf of the petitioner and the State and have perused the revision petition. It appears that some delay has been occasioned in this case, especially considering the fact that the petitioner is in custody in connection with the case since

June 2019.

It further appears that the concerned Correctional Home has not produced the accused before the trial Court on a few dates.

In view of the above and in the interest of justice, I request the learned trial Court to take appropriate steps to ensure production of the accused and conclude the proceeding as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties and in particular, to decide the issue of framing of charge at the earliest, preferably within three months from this date. With these observations, the revisional application is disposed of.
