The inspection report indicates CESC Limited's willingness to provide an electricity supply to the shop room of petitioner no. 2 from the existing meter board position.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of respondent no. 4, however, submits that his client is not a necessary party to the present proceedings, as he has already executed a gift deed in favour of his son concerning the relevant property.

The report filed by CESC Limited, however, notes that respondent no. 4, Insan Ali, has raised objections to the installation of an electricity meter in

favour of the petitioners and has submitted that an eviction suit is pending against them.

In view of the petitioners'

established possession of the shop room in question, I find no justifiable reason to deny their request for a separate electricity connection.

Accordingly, the Officer-in-Charge, Garden Reach Police Station, is directed to render all necessary assistance to the officials of CESC Limited in effecting the electricity supply, at the cost of the petitioners and subject to compliance with all requisite formalities. The police shall also have liberty to break open the padlock of the meter room, if necessary, for the purpose of facilitating such connection.

Accordingly, WPA 2753 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the learned advocates for the parties on usual undertakings.
