The petitioner's grievance relates to the benefit of leave encashment for the period of May, 2015 to February, 2020.

Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was re-employed as an Accounts Officer on ad-hoc basis at the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences on 1st May, 2015. His tenure was extended from time to time and retired on 7th February, 2020. The petitioner submits that though he is entitled to leave encashment benefit for the said period, the University declined to accord such benefit to him.

The petitioner made a representation before the Vice Chancellor, West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, but nothing has been done in response.

I am not inclined to keep the writ petition pending. I dispose of this writ petition giving a direction upon the Vice Chancellor of West Bengal

National University of Juridical Sciences to take steps to consider the application of the petitioner for leave encashment in accordance with law within a period of one month from the date of communication of this order by the competent authority.

Accordingly, WPA 2599 of 2024 is disposed of. (Kausik Chanda, J.)
