The petitioner has filed the present writ petition alleging corruption in Krishnanagar Municipality. 2.

It is stated by the petitioners that they are contractors who have not been awarded any contract till date, whereas Krishnanagar Municipality is illegally awarding contract to various other parties. In view of various illegalities committed by the said municipality, the petitioner, inter alia, prays for issuance of writ of mandamus for the appointment of an independent investigating agency to investigate the said illegalities/irregularities.

Even though the petitioner alleges corruption in the Krishnanagar Municipality, not even a single

document is placed on record to substantiate the said allegation. No particulars of the alleged illegality is put on record. From the tenor of the writ petition it reflects that the petitioners are seeking a roving and fishing inquiry more in the nature of a public interest litigation.

In view thereof this Court is not inclined to exercise its discretionary jurisdiction under Section 226 of the Constitution of India.

Accordingly, the same is dismissed.

No liberty is granted to the petitioner. Whatever liberty is available in law the petitioner can avail. 7.

There shall be no order as to costs.
