The petitioner was appointed as Sahayak in Murarai Gram Panchayat under Murarai I Panchayat Samiti on 27th November , 2001 and was subsequently promoted as Secretary of Bhadrapur Gram Panchayat under Nalhati II Panchayat Samiti. He superannuated on 31st January, 2024. Despite completing all pension related formalities within due time, pension payment order was issued on 17th September, 2024. The gratuity and arrear pension were released on 3rd October, 2024. The petitioner seeks interest on the gratuity and arrear pension due to delay in disbursal of the same. Upon consideration of the submission made on behalf of the parties and material on record, the Director of Pension, Provident Fund and Group Insurance, Government of West Bengal and the Treasury Officer, Rampurhat, being the 2nd and 6th respondents herein, are directed to pay interest to the

petitioner at the rate of 8% per annum on the gratuity and arrear pension amount calculated from 1st February, 2024 till the date of actual payment. Such payment shall be made within one month from the date of communication of this order.

The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.

Since no affidavit has been invited, allegations contained in the writ petition shall be deemed not to have been admitted.

Urgent certified website copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties on compliance of requisite formalities.
