Affidavit-of-service filed in Court today, is taken on record.

The Sub-Divisional Officer, Serampore shall treat the writ petition as a representation of the petitioner and pass necessary orders on the petitioner's claim for ex gratia payment (compensation) on account of death of his wife during the COVID pandemic situation. 3.

The eligibility, maintainability and correctness of the claim are left open to be decided by the concerned authority. The authority shall call the petitioner for a hearing and also look into the document which the petitioner will file in support of his claim. Thereafter, a reasoned order shall be passed. If it is found that the claim of the petitioner is genuine, money shall be released immediately. If it is found that there are reasons for not allowing such payment, such reason shall be disclosed.

The entire exercise shall be completed within a period of three months from the date of communication of this order.

A copy of the writ petitioner and a server copy of this order shall be supplied to the Sub-Divisional Officer for necessary compliance.

Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. 7.

Parties are to act on the basis of the server copy of this order.
