Despite service, none appears on behalf of the respondents.

The writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the Inspector-in-Charge, Barasat Police Station to consider and dispose of the representation dated January 19, 2022 filed by the petitioner no. 1, in accordance with law and independently.

If it is found that the allegations of the petitioners do not require registration of an FIR, then reasons shall be disclosed to the petitioners. The entire exercise shall be completed within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order.

This court has not expressed any opinion with regard to the merits of the allegations against the respondent no.5. The police authorities shall deal with the allegations made by the petitioners, strictly in accordance with law.

The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
