Ms. Sreyashee Biswas Ms. Suchismita Dutta ... For the State The petitioner is in custody for more than 2 years. He renews his prayer for bail on the ground of detention. His bail prayer was turned down on earlier occasions considering the merits of the case.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that by an order passed on 18th January, 2025 in S.T. no. 188/2012 wherein the petitioner is not an accused. Learned trial Court has clubbed the present case being ST 193/2022 which has caused delay in conclusion of trial.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer for bail. The order passed by the learned trial Court on 18th January, 2025 has not been assailed by the petitioner before the appropriate forum. However, learned counsel for the State submits that only examination of the investigating officer is remaining and it may take another month to complete the trial. Learned counsel for the petitioner also submits that cross-examination of the Investigating Officer shall be completed within a month from date.

Considering the incriminating material against the petitioner on record, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage. Learned trial Court is directed to take the proceeding to its logical conclusion as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties, in accordance with law.

The application for bail is disposed of.
