Ms. Malashree Ghosh ...for the petitioner Mr. D. Kumar Roy Mr. Pratick Bose ...for the State This is an application seeking expeditious disposal of a proceeding in which a charge-sheet was submitted under Section 21 (c) of the NDPS Act.

Let a copy of the application be served upon Mr. D. Kumar Roy and Mr. Pratick Bose, learned advocates, who are present in court today and who ordinarily appear on behalf of the State. Their engagement may be regularised in due course by the competent authority of the State. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is in custody since his date of arrest i.e., 05.11.2019. Although the case was started in 2019, till date no charges could be framed. Long dates are being fixed. The next date has been fixed on 19.04.2021 for framing of charge.

I have heard the submissions of the learned counsels appearing on behalf of the petitioner and the State and have perused the revision petition. It appears that a considerable delay has been occasioned in the conclusion of the proceeding, especially considering that the petitioner is in custody since

November, 2019.

In view of the above and in the interest of justice, I request the learned trial Court to conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties and in particular, to decide the question of framing of charge at the earliest, preferably on the next date fixed or within 7 days from then.

With these observations, the revisional application is disposed of.
