A.G.P., Mr. Subrata Guha Biswas ...for the State The writ petitioners are employees of the West Bengal Legal Services Authority and are posted under the High Court as well as the District Courts in West Bengal. They claim benefit in terms of the Memo No. 1107-F(P) dated 25.02.2016 issued by the Finance Department, Audit Branch, Government of West Bengal. They also claim revision of pay scales under the 6th Pay Commission and have also given a proposal for revision staff strength and in their representation dated 10.08.2017.
The prayer is reiterated in a further representation dated 24.12.2019 made to the Executive Chairman, State Legal Services
Authority, West Bengal. Requests have been forwarded to the Secretary, Judicial Department, West Bengal on January 15, 220 and December 22, 2020 by the Principal Secretary, State Legal Services Authority, West Bengal.
The petitioners have also made representations in the meantime to the Hon'ble The Chief Justice of this High Court on September 15, 2020 and December 16, 2020 in this regard.
In those circumstances, this Court directs the Secretary, Judicial Department, West Bengal to consider and dispose of the petitioners'
representation within a period of three months from the date of communication of a copy of this order.
The Judicial Secretary shall pass a reasoned order and communicate the same to the writ petitioners within seven days thereof after giving an opportunity of personal hearing to the writ petitioners and/or their legal representatives.
With the aforesaid observations, the instant writ petition is disposed of.
There shall be no order as to costs.
Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all formalities.
