This is an application for seeking expeditious disposal of a proceeding under Section 125 of the Code.

Leaned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is the husband against whom the wife/opposite party filed an application claiming maintenance allowance under Section 125 of the Code. The application was filed in 2018. Since then a number of dates have gone. The matter was adjourned on several occasions and her evidence as P.W.1 could not be concluded. The impugned proceeding has remained pending for no fault of the present petitioner. I have heard the submissions of the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner and have perused the revision petition.

No prejudice will be caused to anyone if a direction for an expeditious disposal of the proceeding is passed in this case. From the order-sheet it appears that on a number of occasions, the case had to be adjourned because of resolution taken by the local bar association in respect of the Covid-19 pandemic.

It does not appear that any deliberate delay has been caused by the opposite party/wife.

However, the impugned proceeding ought to be expedited in the interest of both the parties.

In view of the above and in the interest of justice, I request the learned trial court to conclude the proceeding as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties.

With these observations, the revisional application is disposed of.
