The rejoinder of the CESC Limited to the exception filed by the petitioner against the report filed by the CESC Limited today be kept on record.

The matter pertains to the petitioner's application for a new electricity connection to run his shop which is situated in a market complex.

The CESC Limited took an objection initially that apart from a block meter, the connection cannot be given due to safety hazards.

It transpires from the stands taken by the parties by way of the report, exception and rejoinder that the petitioner is agreeable to get an electricity connection by a block meter in his name which the CESC Limited is also agreeable to give, subject to the petitioner joining with other co-applicants as

required under the statute and the Regulations, for getting such block meter.

Accordingly, WPA 3087 of 2024 is disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioner to apply for a new electricity connection through a block meter, along with other co-applicants if necessary, as per the requisites under the extant Regulations.

If such an application is made and subject to compliance of all formalities by the applicant(s), the CESC Limited shall give such connection to the petitioner and the other co-applicants through a block meter, positively within a fortnight from the date of compliance of such formalities by the petitioner.

If such an application is made, the CESC Limited shall raise an Offer Letter within a week thereafter in order to enable the applicants to comply with the same.

There will be no order as to costs.

9.

Urgent photostat copies of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
