This is an application under Article 226 of the Constitution of India wherein the writ petitioners are aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the Distribution Company in providing new electricity connection to the petitioners.

Counsel for the petitioners submits that all the necessary and statutory charges have been paid to the Distribution Company.

Counsel appearing on behalf of the Distribution Company submits that they are ready and willing to carry out the same but they are prevented from doing the same by the respondent nos.4 to 8. He submits that if police assistance is granted they can effect the new electricity connection to the petitioners.

In the light of the above, the Distribution Company is directed to provide new electricity connection to the petitioners upon compliance of all formalities. In the event, police assistance is required the Distribution Company shall be at liberty to approach the respondent no.3, being the Inspector-in-Charge, Nandakumar Police Station, Purba Medinipur, and the respondent no.3 is directed to provide police assistance. It is needless to mention, the charges of such police assistance shall be borne by the writ petitioners.

With the above directions, the writ petition being W.P.A.2351 of 2020 is disposed of.

Since no affidavits have been called for, allegations made in the writ petition are not admitted.
