Affidavit-of-service filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record.

Learned advocate representing the petitioner appears on virtual mode and submits that victim girl has been recovered by the police authorities. 3.

However, pointing out the prayer couched in this writ petition on behalf of the petitioner prayer is made for expediting the investigation by the police authorities.

Learned advocate representing the State respondents has placed before this Court a communication dated 23rd March, 2026 of Inspector-in-Charge, Mohanpur PS, Paschim Mednipur and same is taken on record.

On perusal of the said communication dated 23rd March, 2026 it appears that victim girl was recovered on 23rd March, 2026 and after recovery though victim girl was produced before the Medical Officer, Bagda Rural Hospital for medico-legal

examination, however she refused to undergo such examination.

It is also disclosed in the report that the victim girl and the principal accused were known to each other and had prior acquaintance.

It further appears that a criminal prosecution being Mohanpur PS Case No.21/26 dated 5th February, 2026 was initiated under certain provisions of BNS 2023. One of accused persons, namely, Santosh Das @ Bappa was arrested on 5th February, 2026 and was remanded to police custody for five days.

In view of recovery of the victim girl and she was handed over to her father as well as initiation of criminal prosecution being Mohanpur PS Case No.21/26 dated 5th February, 2026 in connection with which one accused is arrested Court directs the concerned police authorities to expedite the investigation.

Writ petition stands disposed of.

10. Copy of the communication dated 23rd March, 2026 is made over to the learned advocate representing the petitioner.

11. Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon usual undertakings.
