The grievance of the petitioner is that the State respondents have encroached upon a portion of his land for widening of road.

It appears from the report submitted by the Executive Engineer, South 24 Parganas Highway Division P.W. (Roads) Directorate that the road widening work in front of the petitioner's plot and the entire Bhangonkhali Mouza has been suspended. Proposal for direct purchase of the required land to facilitate the road widening work has been forwarded to the District Magistrate and Collector, South 24 Parganas on 13th January, 2022. Status quo has been maintained in front of the petitioner's plot and the entire Bhangonkhali Mouza until the procedure of land purchase is completed. It is further stated that the PWD shall not take up any road construction activity beyond the Government land boundary.

In view of the above, nothing further remains for adjudication in the present writ petition.

Accordingly, WPA 3034 of 2022 is disposed of. There shall however, be no order as to costs. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
