The main grievance of the petitioners is that the Public Works Department, South 24 Parganas had demolished certain structures from which the petitioners were running their business upon obtaining trade licences from the concerned panchayat authorities.

This writ petition is not maintainable against the panchayat authorities as there are no allegations against the panchayat.

The petitioners are granted liberty to approach the appropriate authority of the Public Works Department with their grievance.

If such approach is made, the same shall be disposed of in accordance with law.

Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. However, there will be no order as to costs.

All the parties are directed to act on the basis of the server copy of this order.
