Learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submits that the petitioners are the legal heirs of Late Dinonath Maity, who served as a Chowkidar of Lalua Gram Panchayat, Hazipur, under Kukai Police Station, Keshiary, Paschim Medinipur. It is stated that following the death of Dinonath Maity in 2001, his terminal benefits, including pensionary dues, have not been disbursed to the petitioners as his lawful heirs. Learned counsel for the petitioners further draws the Court's attention to a letter dated April 16, 2025, issued by the Deputy Director, Panchayats and Rural Development, Government

of West Bengal, requesting the Block Development Officer, Keshiary, Paschim Medinipur, to take necessary action in accordance with law and to submit an action-taken report at the earliest. It is submitted that no further steps have been taken by the authorities notwithstanding the said communication dated April 16, 2025.

As there is no reason to keep this writ petition pending, the Block Development Officer, Keshiary, Paschim Medinipur, is directed to take follow-up action pursuant to the letter dated April 16, 2025, within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.

Accordingly, WPA 3411 of 2025 is disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties on urgent basis after completion of all necessary formalities. ( Kausik Chanda, J.)
