Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that other co-accuseds were granted bail. The petitioner is in custody for 245 days. Police filed charge sheet and, therefore, further detention of the petitioner is not required. Learned advocate appearing for the State draws the attention of the Court to the postmortem report and the materials in the case diary. He also relies upon the statements recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the mother of the victim. He points out that the victim was beaten to death within four years of her marriage.

Considering the gravity of the offence and the involvement of the petitioner therein, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

Prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected. CRM (DB) 547 of 2022is dismissed.
