The petitioners being the accused persons have filed the instant revision for a direction upon the Trial Court for expeditious hearing of GR Case No. 2987/2018 pending before the learned Judicial Magistrate, 1st Court at Basirhat. It is submitted by the learned Advocate for the petitioners that in connection with the abovementioned case charge-sheet was submitted on 30th November, 2018. Charge was framed on 7th April, 2021. There are only five chargesheeted witnesses in the charge-sheet. Out of them two witnesses are Police personnel and remaining three are the members of public. The learned Magistrate failed to examine any of the witnesses till date.

In my view, it requires only three days at most to examine and cross-examine five witnesses.

GR Case No. 2987/2018 is

unnecessarily pending before the learned Judicial Magistrate, 1st Court at Basirhat.

Therefore, the learned Magistrate is directed to record the evidence of the charge-sheeted witnesses and dispose of the case finally within six months from the date of this order. With the above direction, the instant revision is disposed of. (Bibek Chaudhuri, J.) Srimanta, A.R.(Ct.) Item No. 165.
