The petitioners say that allegedly 311 bottles of phensedyl syrup containing codeine phosphate were recovered from them. However, although charge sheet has been filed and charge was framed in December, 2024, the Seizing Officer, the Investigating Officer and the Chemical Examiner are not named as witnesses in the charge sheet. They are in custody for 335 days. They pray for bail.

Learned State Counsel says that April 9, 2025, has been fixed as the date for recording of evidence. There is sufficient incriminating material against the petitioners. 3.
In view of commercial quantity of contraband items being involved, we are not inclined to allow the petitioners' prayer for bail, at this stage.

The prayer for bail is rejected.

CRM (NDPS) 225 of 2025 is dismissed.

We see that there are 8 charge sheet named witnesses. Considering the period of detention of the petitioners, we direct the learned Trial Court to expedite the trial to the fullest extent possible and conclude the same on an early date, without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties, if necessary, by fixing frequent schedules for examination of witnesses.

Parties to communicate this order to the learned Trial Court.
