Mr. Tanmay Basu .....for the petitioner Mrs. Manasi Roy ....for the State This is an application for an expeditious disposal of a proceeding in which a charge sheet was submitted under Section 21(C) of the NDPS Act.

Let a copy of this application be served upon Mrs. Manasi Roy, learned counsel who is present in court today and ordinarily appears on behalf of the State. She is requested to represent the State in this case. Her engagement may be regularised by the competent authority of the State.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is an accused in this case. The case involves alleged seizure of commercial quantity of contraband. Although the FIR was registered on 10.01.2019 and the petitioner was arrested on the same date, yet till date the proceedings could not be concluded. A charge sheet was submitted in this case on 02.03.2019 and a supplementary charge sheet was submitted on 08.08.2019. After that trial started and one witness has been examined out of nine witnesses. The petitioner is languishing in jail since the

date of arrest.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State fairly submits that State would not come in the way if direction is passed for an expeditious disposal of the trial. I have heard the submissions of learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State and have perused the revision petition.

In view of the fact that the petitioner is languishing in custody since 10.01.2019 in a case allegedly involving recovery of a commercial quantity of contraband, I request the learned trial court to conclude the trail as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties, preferably within a period of ten months from the next date of hearing.

With these observations, the revisional application is disposed of.
