The petitioner is aggrieved by the seizure of the jewellery of the petitioner from locker no. A1441 maintained with Shree Vardaan Safe Deposit Vaults (P) Ltd. located at 25-A, Camac Street, Kolkata - 700016.

Records reveal that in course of search and seizure, gold jewellery worth Rs.9,06,301.50/- was seized from locker no. A1441 (Key no. 1471). The petitioner had since, made a representations on 19th July 2023 for release of the gold jewellery. Such representation has not yet been disposed of.

Having heard the learned advocates appearing for the respective parties and noting that the representation filed by the petitioner dated 19th July, 2023 is pending before the Principal Director of Income Tax (Investigation), Kolkata, and the same is yet to be disposed of, I am of the view that no fruitful purpose will be served by keeping the writ petition pending.

In view thereof, the writ petition is disposed of by directing the concerned respondent authority to

dispose of the petitioner's representation as expeditiously as possible preferably within 4 weeks from the date of communication of this order. 6.

All parties shall act on the basis of the server copy of this order duly downloaded from this Court's official website.
