Petitioners participated in 1st State Level Selection Test, 2016 (Upper Primary) for being appointed as Assistant Teachers in Work Education and Physical Education. Prayer is made in this writ petition for providing OMR sheets in connection with written test relating to aforesaid selection process conducted by West Bengal Central School Service Commission.

From the submissions made on behalf of the parties, it appears that panel was prepared on 12th December, 2018 and same expired on 11th December, 2019. It is submitted on behalf of the Commission that OMR sheets are required

to be preserved for a period of one year from the date of publication of panel. Present writ petition was instituted on 14th February, 2025 that is five years after expiry of the panel. It is trite law that after expiry of panel candidate loses right to agitate his grievance in connection with a particular selection process. In this regard reliance is placed on the judgments of the Hon'ble Supreme Court, one reported in (1996) 9 SCC 309 (State of Uttar Pradesh & Ors. Vs. Harish Chandra & Ors.) and another reported in (2009) 2 SCC 706 (Girdhar Kumar Dadhich & Anr. Vs. State of Rajasthan & Ors.).

Hence, no relief can be granted to the petitioners at this belated stage and the writ petition stands dismissed.

There shall be, however, no order as to costs.
