The report reflects that 16 charge-sheeted witnesses have already been examined and two of the witnesses remain to be examined by the prosecution. The said two witnesses are Dr. Hangraj Chattapadhya (Medical Officer) and the investigating officer of the case, namely, Milon Kanti Dutta.

The Superintendent of Police, Murshidabad District is directed to engage an officer in the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police as Nodal Officer of this case so that the medical officer and the investigating officer can be examined within a reasonable period of time as the report reflects that last of the witnesses was examined on 15th of December, 2022.

The ld. trial court would fix a schedule consisting of three dates and fix such schedule once in every 20 days so that the prosecution witnesses are completed within a period of four months. Thereafter, the ld. trial court would conduct examination under section 313 cr.p.c. and provide opportunity to the defence to examine its witnesses. The ld. trial court will within a period of nine months from the date of communication of this order would deliver the verdict of the present case.

With the aforesaid observations, CRR 607 of 2022 is disposed of.

Pending application, if any, is also disposed of. Ld. advocate for the State would communicate this order to the Superintendent of Police, Murshidabad P.D. Ld. advocate for the petitioner would bring the order to the notice of the ld. trial court. An effective co-ordination must be done to conclude the trial of the case without stretching the time line so framed by this court.
