The petitioner is employed in a school. He joined service on November 29, 2004 and is due to retire from service on March 31, 2026.

He alleges that his date of birth has been incorrectly recorded as March 2, 1964 in his official records. According to the petitioner, his actual date of birth is April 4, 1966.

Prayer has been made to direct the authority to correct the date of birth of the petitioner in his official records.

The aforesaid prayer is vehemently opposed by learned counsel for the West Bengal Board of Secondary Board.

Upon hearing the parties and on perusal of the documents annexed to the writ petition, it appears that the date of birth of the petitioner as recorded in his admit card for the Madhaymik Examination is March 2, 1964. By disclosing the aforesaid date, the petitioner joined service. At the fag end of his service tenure, he has

approached the Court seeking direction for correction of his date of birth.

The petitioner joined service in the year 2004. Had he been genuinely aggrieved with the wrong recording of his date of birth in his admit card, he ought to have taken proper steps in the right time. Prayer for correction of the date of birth at a belated point of time just a couple of months prior to his retirement cannot be permitted to be considered by the authority. The prayer of the petitioner cannot be allowed.

The writ petition fails and is hereby dismissed. 8.
