From the documents annexed to the writ petition and upon hearing the learned advocate for the Howrah Municipal Corporation, it appears that the grievance of the petitioner is non-disposal of the application filed before the Howrah Municipal Corporation seeking correction in the surname of the minor daughter of the petitioner. Representation was filed before the Howrah Municipal Corporation in November 2022 but the same is yet to be disposed of.

As the matter is pending for quite sometime and the issue relates to a minor child, the Court is of the opinion that the writ petition ought to be disposed of without any further delay.

Without entering into the merit of the submission of the petitioner, the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing the concerned authority of the Howrah Municipal Corporation to take a decision in the matter by giving reasonable opportunity of hearing to all the necessary parties.

The petitioner will be obliged to produce all documents before the appropriate authority in support of her claim.

A decision shall be taken in the matter at the earliest but positively within a period of six weeks from the date of communication of this order.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
