This is an unfortunate case. Despite directions of this court and also instructions from the Additional District Magistrate (Health), South 24 Parganas, the process of engagement of the petitioner as an Asha Karmee has not been completed and concluded by the authorities.

The writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the Chief Medical Officer of Health, Diamond Harbour Health District and all other authorities involved in the appointment of the petitioner, to complete the process and issue the engagement/appointment letter within six weeks from the date of communication of this order. The time period shall be treated as mandatory. By causing such delay, the authorities have failed to comply with the earlier directions already passed.

Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. However, there will be no order as to costs.

All the parties are directed to act on the basis of the server copy of this order.
