This is an application for bail in connection with N227/2020 arising out of Swarupnagar P.S. Case No. 630 of 2020 dated 14.11.2020 under Sections 22/25/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the behest of the petitioner.

Mr. Chakraborty, learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that 372 'Yaba' tablets containing methampetamine were allegedly recovered from the possession of the present petitioner. According to the learned advocate, in the forwarding report it was stated that 40.5 grams was the weight of such contraband which is below the commercial quantity.

Ms. Das, learned advocate appearing for the State opposes the prayer for bail and draws the attention of this

Court to the seizure list. The learned advocate for the State further submits that the investigation of the case is still under progress as supplementary charge-sheet is yet to be submitted.

Having regard to the stage of the proceedings, more particularly that further investigation of the case is still under progress, we are not inclined to release the petitioner on bail at this stage. As such, the petitioner's prayer for bail is rejected.

The application for bail, being CRM 1666 of 2021, is, thus, dismissed.
