The writ petitioner was appointed as Civil Police on 01.07.2014. Since after joining, the petitioner worked for about 6 months. However, the petitioner abandoned service with effect from July, 2014 on account of ailment of his mother. The petitioner claims a right of reengagement after a break of about six years as contained in his representation received on 11th April 2019.

This Court notes that the petitioner has unequivocally abandoned his service.

The engagement of Civil Police is contractual in nature for a limited period. Having abandoned service, the petitioner cannot assert any right against the respondents.

Accordingly, no relief can be granted to the petitioner.

Therefore, the writ petition must fail and is dismissed.

No order as to costs.
