In view of the fact that above commercial quantity of codeine mixture has been recovered from the possession of the petitioner, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.

However, considering the fact that the petitioner is in custody since December, 2018 and the charge-sheet has been filed, we direct the learned Additional Sessions Judge, 6th Court at Barasat, to prepare a timeframe for examination of the witnesses and conclude the trial as expeditiously as possible and within the timeframe.

We have been informed by Mr. Banerjee, learned Advocate that 28th April, 2021 is fixed for evidence. The learned Counsel of the parties have assured this Court that no adjournment shall be taken on that date fixed. The trial court shall not grant any adjournment to either of the parties unless there are unavoidable reasons for allowing such prayer.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail is rejected. All parties shall act on the server copy of the order. (Tirthankar Ghosh, J.) (Soumen Sen, J.)
