Mr. Swapan Banerjee Ms. Purnima Ghosh .... For the State This is an application seeking an expeditious disposal of a proceeding in which a charge sheet was submitted under sections 21(C) and 29 of the NDPS Act.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is an accused in this case. He is in custody since the date of his arrest i.e., 12.12.2019. Although, a charge sheet was submitted on 05.11.2019 and charges were framed on 02.02.2020, the proceeding could not be concluded till date. Out of seven witnesses only four have been examined and long dates are being fixed before the learned trial court. The next date is fixed in the month of May, 2021.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the State submits that it will be in the interest of justice if the impugned proceeding is expedited.

It appears that some delay has been occasioned in concluding the impugned proceeding, especially considering the fact that the petitioner is in custody since 12.10.2019.

In view of the above and in the interest of justice, I request the learned trial court to conclude the impugned proceeding as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties, preferably within eight months from next date of hearing.

With these observations the revisional application is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order may be supplied to the parties expeditiously, if applied for.
