Dismissed that the petitioner is in custody for 3 years 4 months and only seven witnesses have been examined out of 13 witnesses cited in the charge-sheet, as such, the petitioner may be released on bail. Learned advocate appearing for the State submits that the case was registered in the year 2013 and it is because of the petitioner, the case has been delayed.

Having considered the period of detention of the present petitioner, I direct the learned trial court to put in efforts for concluding the prosecution witnesses within a reasonable period of time, preferably by 31st December, 2026. At this stage, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

Accordingly, CRM(M)491 of 2026 is dismissed.
