Commercial quantity of contraband items was recovered from the possession of the petitioner. In view of the restriction in Section 37 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, we are not inclined to entertain the petitioner's prayer for bail.

The petitioner says that he is in custody since March 3, 2019. There are 7 witnesses who are all police personnel. Charge has been framed. Not a single witness has been examined.

In view of the protracted detention of the petitioner we request the learned Trial Court to expedite the trial to the extent possible and bring the same to its logical conclusion as soon as the business of the court may permit. Accordingly, the application for bail being CRM 1735 of 2021 is dismissed.
