1. Affidavit-of-service filed today be kept on record.
2. Learned counsel for the petitioner contends that the meter of the petitioner's electricity connection used to operate submersible pumps was lying defective, for which the petitioner approached the respondentauthorities. There was delay in repairing/replacing the same. However, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has installed a new electricity meter. The petitioner also submits that in the meantime ad hoc payments have been made by the petitioner which may be duly adjusted with the future bills.
3. Learned counsel for the WBSEDCL submits that the defective meter has already been replaced. If the petitioner has any billing dispute, it will be open to the petitioner to approach the concerned Grievance Redressal Officer.
4. In view of the redressal of the grievance of the petitioner, there is no use in keeping the matter pending. However, it will be open to the petitioner to make appropriate application before the WBSEDCL for adjustment of the bills paid by the petitioner with future bills, if in the perception of the petitioner the petitioner is entitled to such adjustment. If such an application is made to the WBSEDCL, the same shall be decided by the WBSEDCL as expeditiously as possible, positively within three weeks from the date of making such application.
5. WPA No. 3993 of 2024 is, accordingly, disposed of in the light of the above observations.
6. There will be no order as to costs.
7. Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
