1. The petitioner says that he is in custody for about seven months. Beyond filing of charge sheet, nothing has progressed in the trial. There are 14 charge sheet named witnesses. There is no possibility of an early conclusion of the trial as witness action has not yet begun. Even charge has not been framed. He prays for bail.

2. Opposing the prayer, learned advocate for the State points out that commercial quantity of contraband items were recovered from the exclusive possession of this petitioner. Charge sheet along with chemical report was filed within the statutory period of 180 days. The report shows the presence of narcotics in the seized goods.

3. In view of commercial quantity of contraband items being involved, we are not inclined to entertain the petitioner's prayer for bail, at this stage.

4. The application for bail is, thus, dismissed.

5. However, considering the period of detention of the petitioner, we direct the learned trial Court to expedite the trial to the extent possible and conclude the same on an early date.

6. All parties shall act on the server copies of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

7. Criminal Section is directed to supply certified copies of this order to the parties, if applied for, upon compliance of all necessary formalities.
