The petitioner is an Assistant Teacher at Umarpur Free Primary School, a school under Kalna IV Circle of the Purba Bardhaman District Primary School Council.

The petitioner met with a car accident in the month of September 2014 resulting him incapable of attending the school. He remained absent from his duty for the period from September 09, 2014 to June 14, 2023. The prayer of the petitioner for grant of extraordinary leave for the period during which he could not attend the school has been forwarded to the Commissioner of School Education, Government of West Bengal, the respondent no.2 herein for consideration.

The petitioner complains that the prayer of the petitioner was forwarded to the respondent no.2 way back on December 13, 2023 but the same has not yet been addressed.

The respondent no.2 is directed to dispose of the pending issue as expeditiously as possible in accordance with law preferably within a period of six weeks from the date of communication of this order.

WPA 3985 of 2025 is, thus, disposed of without any order as to costs.

Urgent Photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties subject to compliance with all requisite formalities.
