The petitioner is aggrieved that Chatterjeehat Police Station has not taken cognisance of an oral complaint followed up by her Advocate's letter dated January 24, 2023.

The learned counsel for the State submits that the petitioner was required to submit a formal written complaint given the nature of the allegations against the private respondents.

This Court is unable to agree with the submission of the Chatterjeehat Police Station. However, since the petitioner is required to put her signature on the FIR, she may visit the

Chatterjeehat Police Station day after tomorrow (07.06.2023) at 2 p.m.

The letter addressed by the learned Advocate on behalf of the petitioner dated January 24, 2023 shall be treated as a complaint of the petitioner by the Chatterjeehat Police Station.

The police shall register a formal FIR and complete investigation as expeditiously as possible.

With the aforesaid observations, the instant writ petition shall stand disposed of.

7.

There shall be no order as to costs.

8.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
