This is an application seeking an expeditious disposal of a proceeding in which a charge sheet was submitted under Sections 20(b)(ii)(c ) of the NDPS Act.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is an accused in this case. He was arrested on 13.10.2019 and is in custody since then. Although the charge sheet was submitted in 15.06.2020 and the supplementary charge sheet was submitted on 25.01.2021, till date the proceeding could not be concluded. Even charges could not be framed.

Learned Counsel appearing on behalf of the State submits that the impugned proceeding ought to be expedited in the interest of justice.

I have heard the submissions of the learned counsels appearing on behalf of the petitioner and the State and have perused the revision petition.

It appears that some delay has been occasioned in this case in concluding the impugned proceeding, especially considering the custody of the petitioner since 13.10.2019. In view of the above and in the interest of justice, I request the learned trial court to conclude the proceeding as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties and in particular, to decide the question of framing of charge at the earliest, preferably within a period of three months from the next date fixed for hearing.

With these observations, the revisional application is disposed of.
