The petitioner claims to be the wife of the private respondent who is a retired IPS officer. The marriage between the parties took place post retirement of the officer.

She alleges that her husband has not recorded her name as wife in his service records. She seeks direction upon the respondent authority to record her name as nominee in the service records of the retired employee.

As it appears that the husband of the petitioner was an employee of the Central Government, accordingly, the writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India cannot be entertained by the learned Single Judge of this Court as the Court of first instance.

In view of the above, the instant writ petition stands dismissed for want of jurisdiction to decide the issue.

It will be open for the petitioner to approach the competent forum for relief in accordance with law, if so advised.
