1. The petitioner renews his prayer for bail which was rejected at least thrice earlier, lastly on March 1, 2024 in CRM (DB) 633 of 2024. He says that he is in custody for about 2 years and 8 months. On the ground of delay, he prays for bail.

2. Learned State counsel opposes the prayer for bail.

3. We see that 6 out of 11 chargesheet named witnesses have already been examined. Prima facie, there is sufficient incriminating material against the petitioner. The victim girl has still not been recovered. The charges are very serious. If convicted, the petitioner may have to suffer life imprisonment.

4. Most importantly, the petitioner was absconding for 13 years before he could be apprehended. If we grant bail, there is every possibility of the petitioner again disappearing.

5. In view of the aforesaid, we are not inclined to entertain the petitioner's prayer for bail, at this stage.

6. CRM (DB) 714 of 2025 is dismissed.

7. However, considering the period of detention of the petitioner, we direct the learned Trial Court to expedite the trial to the fullest extent possible and conclude the same on an early date without granting unnecessary adjournments to either of the parties and, if necessary, by fixing frequent schedules of two/three dates each, for examination of witnesses.

8. Let this order be communicated by the parties to the learned Trial Court.
