Amitesh Banerjee, learned advocate appearing for the State fairly admits before this Court that FIR should have been registered by the Hingalganj Police Station.

Let FIR be registered in respect of complaint of the petitioner dated 04.02.2023 immediately and investigation be commenced.

The petitioner expresses serious threat to his life and limb primarily from the private respondents. The Superintendent of Police, Basirhat shall examine the threat perception of the petitioner and take appropriate steps in accordance with law.

In the event, a threat perception is found by the Superintendent of Police, Basirhat, appropriate security shall be provided to the petitioner. If, however, there is no threat perception in the opinion of the State and yet the petitioner insists, let security be provided to the petitioner, at his costs, for a period of three weeks.

The O.C., Hingalganj Police Station shall maintain regular vigil at the locale.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
