Advocate Mr. Bitasok Banerjee ...for the State The Court is approached under Section 482 Cr.P.C to ensure expeditious disposal of a case being N.D.P.S. Case No.12 of 2020, now pending before the learned Additional Sessions Judge cum Judge, Special Court, Hooghly under Sections 20(c) N.D.P.S. Act. Learned advocate, Mr. Sudip Ghosh Chowdhury representing the petitioner submits that the learned court below has already framed the charge against the petitioner and scheduled dates for collection of evidence. The only direction, according to learned advocate for the petitioner, that may be recorded in this case, is

for giving short dates, so that the trial could be expeditiously finished in this case.

Mr. Ghosh, learned advocate representing the State submits that no further direction, as regards expeditious disposal of case, is necessary in view of the order passed in C.R.R.1880 of 2020 dated 8th January, 2021. Since there has already been direction requiring the trial court for conclusion of the trial within a reasonable period of time the instant revisional application does not call for any action. The attention of the Court is drawn to such order by furnishing a copy let the same be taken on record. Since there has already been a direction for conclusion of the trial within a reasonable period of time, the Court is of the view that no further direction is thus warranted. The Court is of the view that the learned trial court will try to ensure expeditious disposal upon sensing the message contained in C.R.R.1880 of 2020.

However, the learned court below is further directed to schedule the dates for collection of evidence giving short dates to the extent possible, subject to similar nature of cases pending in his court.

With this direction/observation, the instant revisional application stands disposed of.
