The petitioner asserts that he is a tenant under respondent no. 5. Respondent no. 5 is represented and does not dispute the existence of the tenancy. However, it is alleged that the petitioner has not been paying the monthly rent regularly.

In the present writ petition, the petitioner contends that respondent no. 5 is obstructing the installation of a separate electricity connection. It is submitted that the petitioner has deposited the

amount as quoted by the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL).

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of WBSEDCL submits that officials of the said authority made repeated attempts to install the electricity connection.

However, due to obstruction by respondent no. 5, the connection could not be effected.

In view of the undisputed settled possession of the petitioner over the premises in question, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to WBSEDCL to effect the electricity connection within a period of three weeks from the date of this order, subject to the petitioner's compliance with any additional formalities, if required. The Officer-in-Charge of Sankrail Police Station is directed to provide necessary assistance to the officials of WBSEDCL for installing the electricity connection, at the cost of the petitioner. If necessary, the police shall be at liberty to break open the padlock of the meter room, if any.

With the above directions, WPA 4705 of 2025 stands disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all necessary formalities.
