The petitioner in WPA 5217 of 2025 claims to be the owner of Plot No. 522 in Bautiya, Mouza-Desh Nabagram, District-Birbhum, while the petitioner in WPA 9081 of 2025 claims to be the owner of Plot No. 390 in Bautiya, Mouza-Desh Nabagram, DistrictBirbhum. Both petitioners seek electricity connections for their respective submersible pump sets.
The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) submits that the grant of such connections is not techno-economically viable.
It is further submitted that, for the pump set involved in WPA 5217 of 2025, a sum of Rs. 3,69,517/- would be required for the installation of a new transformer, whereas, in WPA 9081 of 2025, a sum of Rs. 7,86,595/- would be necessary for installation of a new transformer.
Learned counsel appearing for the petitioners, however, submits that both petitioners can be provided with electricity connections from an existing transformer installed in the vicinity.
Accordingly, WBSEDCL is directed to conduct a fresh inspection to ascertain whether electricity connections can be provided to the petitioners from any existing transformer in the locality.
Such inspection shall be carried out in the presence of the petitioners within a period of two weeks from the date of this order.
Based on the findings of the inspection, WBSEDCL shall reconsider the petitioners' applications for electricity connections and take a fresh decision within a period of two weeks thereafter. Accordingly, WPA 5217 of 2025 and WPA 9081 of 2025 are disposed of.
