The petitioners have applied before the District Magistrate, South 24-Parganas praying for granting benefit under the "Bangla Abas Yojana".

The representation has been accompanied by certificates issued by the Pradhan of the Gram Panchayat mentioning that the petitioners belong to the members of the 'below poverty level' category.

The petitioners pray for consideration of the representation received by the office of the District Magistrate, South 24-Parganas on December 31, 2020. As it appears that the representation of the petitioners is pending consideration till date, no useful purpose will be served by keeping the writ petition pending.

The writ petition is accordingly disposed of by directing the respondent no. 3, being the District Magistrate, South 24-Parganas to take necessary steps for consideration of the representation made by the petitioners strictly in accordance with the relevant rules/schemes/guidelines at the earliest, but positively within a period of twelve weeks from the date of communication of a copy of this order.

In the event the aforesaid respondent is of the opinion that any of the petitioners are entitled to receive the benefit in terms of the aforesaid Scheme then necessary consequential steps shall be taken at the earliest.

WPA 5507 of 2021 stands disposed of.

Affidavit-of-service filed in Court is taken on record.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties after completion of all legal formalities.
